Introduction Both qualitative and quantitative research are generally implemented to address and respond to questions of great interest in society. These two methods of investigation collect data in different forms. Qualitative research usually prefers written text rather than numbers, as it analyses, summarises, organizes, and interprets nonnumerical observations. The aim of qualitative research is to help understand what happens in a particular situation by conceptualising a phenomenon, making great emphasis on the personal experiences of all participants involved in the study, and finally developing one or more hypotheses and theories to describe the various processes involved in the phenomenon. On the other hand, quantitative research focuses on establishing cause-and-effect relationships as it proves and disproves hypotheses and tries to determine opinions, attitudes, and practices of large populations or samples.
